ART RESIDENCY

The art residency kicked off in November 2021 - December 2021 in a virtual format. There were regular brainstorming sessions alternated by a series of inspirational and informational dialogues with guest experts who shared their myriad experiences of marine conservation, art and corals, diving, coral rehabilitation, eco-friendly interventions, and coastal community challenges.

The sessions were passionate, filled with curiosity, and a desire to create something evocative and from the heart. At the end of the virtual residency, we had a finalized design for the two installations – we called it The Silent Scream.

The offline part of the residency happened in March 2022 and with SotoHaus in Goa became our studio partner for construction. 

 At the end of this phase of residency, we constructed the multipurpose sculpture which is an art and a home to corals and fishes. With the help of the Coastal Impact team, the sculpture was installed underwater in the Goan seas and corals were planted as part of the restoration process.
